Notes on this list
Most young players in Rhein-Main learn at a club. Frankfurter TV 1860 trains its juniors in five groups on Mondays and Wednesdays, SV 1934 Frankfurt-Griesheim on Thursdays and Fridays, and SV Frankfurt Nord 1926 on Monday evenings at a family centre on the Riedberg; in the Main-Taunus towns, SVG Eppstein, SC Bad Soden, SC 1979 Hattersheim, Sfr. 1932 Kelkheim and SC Flörsheim 1921 hold youth groups before their club evenings. The Chess Tigers Training Center in Bad Soden adds seminars with grandmaster trainers.
Schools take part as well. VSG 1880 Offenbach sends trainers to school chess groups across Offenbach and runs the city's school championships, the chess team of the Gymnasium Oberursel has played at the German school chess championship, and the Schach-AG of the Dreieichschule in Langen has placed at the Hessian school chess cup; those two school groups are open only to their own pupils. TuS Makkabi Frankfurt adds holiday chess camps, and Niederräder TG a course for children aged six to ten.
